Scheduling: Book Tour for This Bird Flew Away by Lynda Martin
I’m currently scheduling a two-week long tour for This Bird Flew Away by Lynda Martin. The tour runs from April 4th till April 18th. I am currently working on a media kit for everyone interested in hosting, including a tour banner, author bio and picture, etc.
The author is looking for book reviews, author interviews, guest blog posts, giveaways and live chats. I have .pdf copies for everyone who wants to review the book.
This is the tour banner. You can choose to put this on your website, even if you’re not a host for this tour. Of course, you don’t have to, but you would make me very happy! Of course, you can resize it to fit your website design.
Genre: women’s fiction, literary fiction. The book isn’t exactly an adult novel, and it can be read by mature young adults as well.
Author’s Note: This Bird Flew Away was written for women and mature girls. I should tell you the subject matter I think. First, you need to know why I wrote it. I have thirty years experience as an outreach worker in child protection, having worked with a number of exploited girls. Some years ago, I attended an international conference on child protection to learn that world-wide, the real figures for such abuse is 7 out of 10 girls and 4 out of 10 boys. This means that less than one third of all survivors get any help. It also means that 70% of the females in the world are survivors. My novel is a road map of healing disguised as a novel. Although the subject matter is dark, the book is not. It is optimistic, even amusing at times as we learn the story from two narrators — Bria, who we meet at age nine and travel with until she is 29 and Mary, who becomes her foster mother. The third main character, Jack, we meet only through the eyes of these two women.
We begin by learning of the circumstances that leave Bria open to exploitation and leave her poised to enter the world as a children’s advocate and professional. She is not overwhelmed by her history. Quite the contrary — which has been my experience with those girls I worked with.
Synopsis: What is real love? The whole world wants to know. They should ask Bria Jean, because she has it all figured out. Opinionated, stubborn and full of woe, Bria would tell you real love is having one person you can always count on through thick and thin. For her, that’s Jack. And it doesn’t matter to her that she’s nine and he’s twenty-three-not one bit. When, at the age of twelve, Bria disappears, he and his Aunt Mary search for her, and when she surfaces, injured, abused and traumatized, Jack fights to become her guardian with no idea of the trials ahead of him. By then, Bria is thirteen going on thirty, full of her own ideas on how her life should run and with some very fixed notions about who is in charge.
